Things I Love Today

Freckles - Are just natures sprinkles. And everything is better with some sprinkles... right? There's nothing like a smattering of freckles to make everything feel a little more summery.

Pretty Kitties - My mum and dad seem to have acquired a family of cats recently. First a mammy cat, shortly followed by her four kittens. Panic ensued at home... we're not a cat household at all and even though strays are always welcome we weren't too sure how this would all go down with our resident mutt. Well the kitties are now well settled and happy yard cats and Scruffy is a self important house dog... so far so good. We were getting each kittie fixed as soon as we could catch them but unfortunately our momma cat got hit on by a tom before we could get her to the vet and sported a rather large belly. To our delight and relief she finally brought her kittens back to us a few weeks ago and now hours can go by watching the two little balls of fur giving it socks around the yard in the mornings. Yea for strays.

Just Standing There - Those last two minutes in the shower... you know the ones I'm talking about. When you are all squeaky clean, hair rinsed, legs shaved and you just stand there in the steam. Hot water just washing away the last of the crap that was part of your day. Bliss.

Honourable Mentions - licorice sprogs, elephant print anything, the first spoonful of cereal out of a fresh box, sheer vests, winning raffles and supporting charities, chocolate and hazlenut gelato, lazy Sunday walks by the riverside, clean floors and bare feet, summer showers, finally finishing the last of the tooth paste and getting to throw away the squished up tube

Puppy Love

Isn't my Scruffy the most beautiful dog is the universe. This is not a question - it is fact.

Things I Love Thursday

Torrential Rain - but only when I don't have to go out in it. I can just curl up inside the window with a mug of something hot and watch it for hours and hours.

Tropical Sugar-free MiWadi - It is the best tasting cordial in the world. I go through more than a bottle of it each week and it's the only thing that I've found to entice me to drink more water.

Thursday Shopping - For the last few weeks myself and Raymy, and sometimes Sonya, have been sneaking off to the local shopping center on a Thursday night and wander around with ice-cream or coffee, looking at everything but buying very little. It's great girlie time.

Going Home - I haven't been home in weeks and weeks but I'm really looking forward to heading home this weekend and saying hi to the folks and cuddling up with the dog and catching up with some friends.

What is putting a twinkle in your eye this week?

Things I Love Thursday

Archery - Indoor training resumes next Monday night, and Wednesday is Fresher Recruitment night. I can't wait to get back inside - I really don't do outdoor training in Ireland. It's just too windy.

Marshmallows - I may have been in the Cash&Carry yesterday and I may have picked up a box of 500 marshmallows as a gift to our house. Nom nom indeed. Such a sugar rush.

Festival - Just in case you haven't noticed I'M GOING TO ELECTRIC PICNIC. Woo hoo.

Goldfish - We got two new fish yesterday and I was allowed to name one. He is called James and he has a little problem swimming forward, or straight, or any way consistently at all. But I am completely in love with the little guy.

French Press - I was up in IKEA on Sunday with my mum. It was her first time there and she didn't really like it, but I picked up a new french press and a laptop stand for only €13. Bargain.

Cookie Jars - I picked up a gorgeous mason jar for keeping communal cookies in for our lovely, new, homely house. It is filled with penguin bars, mini kitkats and chocolate chip cookies. Yum yum.

New Books - The bible of Persona Design has finally come into the University library. Let the learning commence. It's brand new, the spine isn't even cracked yet. It has that new book smell too. My masters might be possible now.

Fish - Sonya has dependents now. One big goldfish called Paul, and three little fish called Ronan, Stringer and Warrick. The names are from the Munster Rugby Team, an Irish, and Limerick, institution.

What puts a smile on your face today?
