I'm A Winner

I WON!
Absolutely ages ago I entered a quick competition over at beaut.ie and then proceeded to completely forget all about it. So imagine my surprise to find a parcel waiting for me when I got home from college today.
Inside I found two scrummy eye shadows from the new Bourjois Pretty Paris range, Citron Givre and Tabac Blonde, as well as a So Laque nail polish in Tangerine Fatal. I can't wait to wear them to college tomorrow.
This day just couldn't get any better.

Wish Me Luck

I'm just finishing things up here at work and heading back to the house to throw a few things into the car. This weekend will see us all up in Dundalk competing in their intervarsity. Please keep your fingers crossed for me, I really need to shoot well this weekend.
Training hasn't been going right and I'm getting very disheartened by the whole thing. I'll let you all know how it went when I get back on Sunday evening though.

Have you any challenges facing you this weekend?

Susan Boyle Makeover
source
The Britain's Got Talent star has dropped 10 years off her look. A facial, an eyebrow shaping, some hair dye and new clothes and she looks like a whole new woman.
Congratulations to her on all her success so far and I hope to see much more of her in the future. If you've been hiding under a rock lately and haven't seen her performance click HERE to view her extraordinary talent.
Have you seen the transformation?

New Irish Record
Last weekend was the UCD InterVarsity. It was a great, but very long, shoot, and even thought UL put in their best team score of the entire year we didn't manage to place in the top three. Pretty disappointed but sure... we did our best... we actually did!
UL Archery would like to congratulate Harry Lyster, above. Harry set a new Irish Record for Indoor Compound, scoring 581 on Saturday.
If anyone wants to take a look at the league scores you can check them out HERE.
And if anyone wants to check out any of the rest of the Irish Records you can find them HERE.

Weeee....

I'm back. There was a little trouble with the servers in the college and I was internet less for the last few days but all is restored and repaired now. Woo hoo.
Oh, I got my gift from Pop ( and Fredrick, now do you feel better?) over the weekend. It was Banana Nectar.... a bottle of banana nectar! What am I supposed to do with banana nectar? I've heard that it's an 'acquired' taste at best, and horrible at worst. Bloody banana nectar! But, oh God, did I laugh when I saw it.
The rest of the weekend was great. I competed in the Irish Student Championships on Saturday in Carlow and finished in 13th place in the advanced category. I was pretty chuffed with myself, but I was so proud of the rest of the team - they brought home 4 medals from the event.
- Michael took 1st place in beginner barebow
- Craig took 3rd place in beginner barebow
- Anna took 3rd place in beginner recurve
- Rory took 2nd place in advanced recurve

A Little Something...

A friend of mine, we'll call her Pop, was chatting to me in gmail this morning and told me that she has a little gift for me and that she would give it to me at the Student Championships in Carlow this weekend. She also gave me some clues about the gift
- she got it on a plane far away
- it's yellow
- and it's see through
- and she thinks there is white in it too
- oh it's also funny

Weekend shoot
I am weary. My poor body is so tired from a weekend shooting.
Saturday was a great days shooting and our college team took 4th place at the InterVarsity. Our captain, Rory, took 3rd place in the recurve section with a great new personal best score. My day went ok, but I had been expecting to do a little better because of all the training that I had been putting in since the start of the month. The new hall in NUIG is a lovely hall to shoot in though. They have great lighting, staggered bleachers to sit on and a really nice cafe in the foyer that stays opens all weekend. This bit is important.... cause I sort of signed up for a full days shooting on Sunday too. Oh I am such a sucker for punishment.
Sunday was the National Barebow Championships but there was a FITA running at the same time so I put my name down for a spot in that, and I persuaded Tom and Alan to shoot too, along with Rory and Phil, so we had a respectable turn out from the Limerick teams. My only problem was that I had given Dot back her limbs which left me limb less... sort of. I had a set of medium limbs in my case so we set about adjusting the riser so that everything would line up nicely.
This is were I usually fail at archery related things.... I'm not very good with the equipment side of things but I decided that it was time to learn. With a little (lot) of help from a friend called Martin, who instead of doing it for me, told me why we needed to do all the things that we were doing and showed me how to do them myself, we got the bow set up lovely and straight and ready for Sunday. I really love people like that who instead of doing everything for you teach you how to do it for yourself.
So I went forth and shot on Sunday.... and took 3rd place in the female recurve category. What a great day despite having to face my own coach in the head-to-head tournament!

And I also got to try out a set of short M1 limbs to see how they shot with my riser.
