Things I Love Thursday

Turning The Last Page - I love the feeling of accomplishment that I get from finishing a really good book. I've just finished reading The Help by Katheryne Stockett. I thought it was a wonderfully well written book that transported me to the southern States with ease. Some of the rest of the books on my nightstand are The Bloody Chamber, The Dice Man, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and a few more. Are there any reads that you'd love to share with me? I'd love to add some more titles to my night time stack of reading.

Convict Stripes - For the past few weeks I've been having a secret love affair with all things in black and white stripes. The fat girl in me is screaming 'no' at the mention of striped clothing though and is constantly warning me not to succumb to the lure of the mono-stripe... but then I saw THIS outfit on Kyla and I'm starting to waver - I already have a mustard cardigan, and I have a striped tube skirt, and some black boots. Hmmmm

A Little Bit Of Candy - Just cause sometimes, on a dreary Thursday morning you need something nice to look at. So to all my lady readers - enjoy, and to all my guy readers - we're not comparing.

Honourable Mentions - fizzy cola bottles, clearing some of the clothes that don't fit anymore out of my wardrobe, wearing a high, soft bun on the top of my head, raspberry and vanilla jam, opening a new tub of Ben & Jerry's and only wanting a few spoons before putting it back into the freezer, a freshly made bed, hearing loose change at the bottom of your bag and realising that it's mostly made up of €2 coins, bondage tights, remembering how much I loved glitter make up when I was 18, short skirts, spicy noodle soup - I must have had this at least 4 times in the last week

Today I wish for...

... emails to read that are not work related

(and that is a thinly veiled request)

Confessional - A Simple Thought

My mum and I share a simple belief.

That when a loved one dies they sometimes like to come back and visit on a sunny day, disguised as a butterfly.

If you ever spot me wearing something with a butterfly on it... it's because I want to remember someone special that day.

What Would It Be Raining In Your World...

...if it couldn't rain cats and dogs?

If you couldn't have a cute puppy or a sweet little kitten what would you have instead?

I'll Take It Where I Can Get It

I may not be able to afford the shoes but I do believe that I can manage to scrape together the cash and time to try out a Louboutin Manicure.

The key to the Louboutin manicure is the red under section of the nail, just like the soles of his iconic shoes. Since my own nails are a little on the short side and my hands are not the steadiest with a brush I'll be trying this out with a set of false nails to minimise the amount of mess that I would probably make.

Have you ever tried out a Louboutin? Do you indulge in a little nail art every now and then?
I'd love to hear all about it.

Things I Love Thursday

Bread Is Just Raw Toast - If you have ever spent more than a day with me you will know of my love affair with toast - to the point that I will not buy bread for fear of eating the whole lot in one sitting. One of the most wonderful moments of my weekends visiting my parents is sitting at the breakfast table with some tea and a plate full of toast in front of me, jam pot on one side of my plate, butter dish on the other. A guaranteed way to my heart? Offer to make me some.

A Little Laid Back - These days I'm a little low maintenance (read lazy) and so I have become enamored with the 'messy ponytail', the rough around the edge, morning after, I'm too cool to care kinda look. I have to warn you though... this look does not combine well with a 'couldn't care less' fashion attitude - I always make sure that my nails are well polished and my make up looks fresh in order to avoid the bag lady tag.

Mug Shot - Eating food out of an oversized mug is one of my simple guilty pleasures. I get a lot of satisfaction out of being able to cradle my food in my hand, fingers threaded through the handle. My own little portion of happiness. Some of the best foods for your mug - fruit, cereal, noodles, ice cream, parfait, soup, the list is endless...

Honourable Mentions - hearing the truth, ice cream sandwiches, waiting for strawberry season to arrive, eyebrow pencils that glide on without smudging, the most amazing slice of mushroom pizza on the way home from a Saturday night out on the town, Clint Mansell soundtracks, oversized knits, time on my own, this song, friends who hide presents in my handbag for me to find later on, balloons with my name on them
